MORETON CORBET CASTLE

Our chosen ruin is Moreton Corbet Castle in Shropshire. Within our group there are five of us and on the 9th December we all decided to visit and survey our ruin. It was a very cold and miserable day but we still managed to take a quick selfie to show our enthusiam and excitement... Lets meet the group! We have Misbah, Asiya, Mwalula (the camera man), Yusuf and Me! (From left to right).

Anyway... To more important news... The day we had chosen this as our ruin we assigned eachother to research the ruin. The general gist of what I found out is below:

  • Built by Bartholomew Torret in 1066

  • Acquired by the Corbet Family in 1239 approximately

  • Extended in 1538

  • Extended again in the 1580's with an impressive Elizabethan wing

  • Construction was never completed

  • Burned down by the Parliamentarians
